Can somebody explain a balloon rig for shark fishing to me? 10 PTS Guaranteed!?
I have looked at all the sites and stuff and none of them really explain it or show a picture of a real one.My questions 1. How does the balloon " Release" after it gets into deep enough water? I fish at night and I also have a bb gun to do the job . 2. Do I just get a wind blowing away from the water by pure luck? or can the balloon rig work with just current?3. If the current is against me and the wind is against me, what options do I have for getting the bait into deeper water? Don't have kayak and im not jumping into dirty water, not today . 4. For shark fishing, which side of Florida should I go to, the Atlantic or the Gulf side?
I'm planning a shark fishing trip for myself, my brother, and my dad. I know the Atlantic side is great for catching sharks, but I'm do not know about the Gulf side.

I just started a chum bucket that I put scrap parts of bait, and used bait into. I leave it outside and it's really ripe and stewed from the sun and all the stuff fermenting in there. I also keep fresh bait in the freezer and when nothing takes that, it goes in the chum bucket. The bucket is really disgusting and offensive to others on the pier lol. Is all of this worth doing?It has a lid and stays closed. It's only bad when it's open so I brace myself and give a fair warning when I open it. But the problem is that it isnt going over the ocean, so I dont know if their is that many sharks over their. Its about 100 yards from the open water. My plan is to catch ladyfish which their is a bunch of over their , and put them into a bucket till I think I have enough. Then right as the sun goes down cast in the fish 10 20 yards in its deep water and wait till something hits it. I will be going alone as of now i have there from feb 5th to the 12th and I plan on surf fishing everyday for little stuff and mainly sharks. Any advice on how to handle the sharks since I will be alone? Should I reel it in as far as I can and when i feel its fairly beached put pole down in holder then pull him up by tail? I will be meeting up with couple guys for a day or two that shark fish his name is Tbone on here. But just wondering how dangerous dumb it would be to try it alone or is it really not that big of deal? I am an experienced fisherman from here in WI I have fished big cats alone before so Im not just some random person trying to catch sharks i have caught bonnetheads every time i go so again advice please yes catch and release and glad to hear I can trust Tbone lol

Ok all I hear is 200 lb this 300lb this and that.... So my first and main question. Do you really need that? Or is it really about having proper drag letting him run and reeling when he lets you? I understand the leader being a very important part so that i can understand being some heavy duty but the line and everything? Can you get by say with...50 80 lb mono for the shock section of the rig? I just want to know more about this Shark stuff. And if all this high lb stuff is truly needed pics of your rig would be great too fishing in Florida gulf side What lb leader with work and how long? Right now i have 174lb single stand leader but its so... stiff and I just dont believe I need that but if i really do i will go with it I also have a 100 flourocarbon leader for the shock suppression I think this may be more then enough let me hear your thoughts. PS I would like a different leader because twisting it around to keep it snug hurts the fingures I dont have a crimp
